Understanding the Process
Cardston County’s Land Use Bylaw (Bylaw No. 443/98) outlines two categories of development permits:
1. Permitted Use
✅ These applications can be processed directly by County Administration, provided the application is complete and follows all applicable regulations.
✅ A list of approved Permitted Use applications is submitted to the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) for review at each meeting.
2. Discretionary Use
❗ Applications for Discretionary Uses require review and final approval from the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC).
❗ Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the MPC meeting where their application will be considered. This provides an opportunity to present your application and answer any questions the Commission may have.
