Cardston County offers a Custom Weed Spraying Program to help landowners control the spread of noxious and prohibited noxious weeds. These invasive species pose a serious risk to our agricultural land and grazing areas, reducing productivity and harming our environment.
How the Program Works
Our experienced Agricultural Services team will conduct a site inspection to assess your weed problem, determine the priority level, and provide you with an estimated cost for spraying.
Cost-Recovery Basis
This program operates on a cost-recovery basis, meaning you are responsible for the costs of herbicide, employee travel, and staff time. However, we work closely with you to find the most cost-effective solution for your specific site.
Delivery Methods
Depending on the site’s conditions, our staff will choose the most appropriate spraying method to ensure maximum herbicide coverage and effectiveness. Safety is our top priority — all applications follow strict safety guidelines to protect people, livestock, and the environment.
Preparing Your Site
Our agricultural staff will guide you through site preparation and advise on any additional safety precautions you may need to take prior to spraying.
Weed Priority System
We prioritize the spraying of prohibited noxious weeds over less invasive species. Some of the key target weeds include:
- Scentless Chamomile
- Spotted Knapweed
- Blueweed
- Leafy Spurge
- Hound’s Tongue
- Toadflax
- And more
First Come, First Served
The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis. However, in certain cases, the Agricultural Fieldman may adjust the priority based on the severity of the infestation or the potential for spread.
